Reasons To Build Your Dream Home with a Pool
There are many benefits to owning a pool in your backyard. Not only can you cool off in the summer, but it is also an excellent way to exercise when the weather gets colder. Pools are great for kids and adults alike, so if you have a family with children this may be the best option for you. However, there are some cons that should be considered before making this big decision.
The biggest advantage to purchasing a house with an already built pool is the price. If you are looking for this specific feature, then it will likely be cheaper to buy one that has the pool already installed than if you were buying just the land and building your own. You can expect to pay at least $50k more for a home with its own in-ground swimming pool, but many times it could cost up to two or three times as much!
The biggest disadvantage of houses with pools comes from having children around unsupervised. Swimming lessons should be required before kids have access to their own backyard oasis because accidental drowning deaths are extremely common among young children. A quick search on Google shows at least four fatalities resulting unattended children who drowned in pools in the past year alone.
Another issue with a pool is the cost to maintain it. Not only does this require regular cleaning, but also chemical treatments and/or heaters depending on your location. If you are not familiar with how pools work then this could be an expensive mistake that costs hundreds of dollars monthly or even weekly!
If you do decide to go for the house with the in-ground pool, make sure to inquire about any problems beforehand. It would be extremely disappointing if after spending tens of thousands of dollars on a new home there was some unknown issue like leaks or structural damage which required costly repairs before use.
The best advice here is to consider all of your options before making this big decision! Even though it seems like an ideal feature, there are some definite downsides that could end up costing you more than just money. Think about how much use you plan on getting out of your pool and weigh your future plans against what may happen if something goes wrong with or around the water.
